Making a dream come true
As time is allowed to pass without a point of reference, it seems a task beyond my ability to adequately reflect on all that is taking place in the World; the days dramatically rolling one into another, events appear fleeting so what do I focus on to write about? My world at least is smaller, but with equally little space to organise my thoughts I ask, “What will be useful for my first publication?”. That in fact is the most pertinent question if I am to ever get started. Understanding what it is I wish to share, not just amongst the private pages of a journal, but for all to see.
What is the purpose of my words?
Who would want to read them and why?
I know with certainty I would need to prepare worthwhile answers, as I would likely be asked them over and over until I have produced something tangible that may be submitted for editing and publication.
Turning to peers for consultation and mentors for support has not narrowed my field of content, but rather led me to the conclusion that writing should be adopted as a process for an ongoing connection with my audience. I have been reminded of the broad tapestry of media and how every channel has survived against competition, because each mirrors the diversity of the viewers. A solid reason for taking a crack at ‘blogging’; it creates a routine, encourages creativity and with the intention of expanding across other mediums, to improve my chances at obtaining my end goal. And as for making the most of the of passages that sit patiently in my array of notebooks, I no longer plan to release a single bio but to stretch to a series!
I have been informed an Author initially only need put pen to paper (or fingers to a keyboard). The words do not need to be in any logical order, lead to any point or even have a theme. An Author simply writes. A team of specialised individuals who coach, edit, illustrate and publish ultimately create the book. So, I find myself an Author by the very fact I have placed these words upon a page. The concept of my long-time dream will become a reality after all. My self-esteem and confidence have flourished from this realisation, which is great news for the growth of my business; to be a more effective at sales I am required to show true belief in what I am selling – Me.
